Reporting a Hate Crime

If you are a victim of a hate crime or you have witnesses a hate crime, there are a number of ways to report this to the police.

By telephone:

      • In an emergency call 999

      • Call the non-emergency number 101

       • Call Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111 to anonymously report a hate crime

These numbers have access to interpreters for non-English speakers.

Hate crime can be reported online through the PSNI website

Victim Support

Victim Support NI  is the leading organisation supporting victims of crime in Northern Ireland. This service is free and confidential and available whether or not a crime has been reported.

If you live in Belfast, the Belfast Migrant Centre’s bilingual support workers provide a range of services to victims of racist hate crime.

If you live in the Newry, Mourne & Down or Armagh, Banbridge & Craigavon council areas, the Racism is Wrong project has an independent reporting scheme for racist incidents and racial discrimination.
